Delaware County-based Wawa dropped one spot in the American Customer Satisfaction Index Convenience Store Study, now tying with rival Sheetz for second place, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Midwestern brand Kwik Trip claimed the top spot, scoring 84 on the 100-point scale, two points above Wawa and Sheetz. Wawa and Sheetz are Pennsylvania’s largest private companies in terms of revenue, with Wawa retaining the top spot, earning over $5 billion last year.
The ACSI convenience store study bases its ranking on several metrics, including the quality and variety of food and beverages, the quality of the store’s mobile app, store hours, and helpfulness of staff.
In the inaugural study last year, Wawa came out on top among all U.S. convenience stores with a score of 82. While its score remained unchanged this year, Sheetz improved by three points from its 79 score in 2024.
One of the biggest trends in the 2025 ACSI study is the growing use of mobile apps, with around a third of respondents reporting using a convenience store’s mobile app. The study also highlighted the impact of made-to-order food quality and variety on customer satisfaction.
