Construction of the new Wawa convenience store and gas station in Newtown is moving forward as planned, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
The signature red and white sign is now up, alerting thousands of drivers on the busy Newtown Bypass to the upcoming arrival of the new store.
The 5000-square-foot building is also taking shape, as is the canopy meant to protect motorists while filling up their vehicles with gasoline at the Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road intersection.
This past fall, Wawa was crowned the leading convenience store chain in the nation by the new American Customer Satisfaction Index.
To determine the top convenience store chain, the study surveyed 5,710 randomly selected customers between March and September 2024. The study awarded Wawa with an industry-leading score of 82 out of 100.
“If you’ve ever been part of a Wawa versus Sheetz debate, then you know how seriously folks defend their favorite hometown convenience store,” stated ACSI. “So, in the friendly spirit of competition, the ACSI also measured customer satisfaction at the regional level. Once again, the top players prevail.”
Wawa prevailed in the Northeast and came second in the South. However, Sheetz took second place in the Northeast.
