Lost Newtown Square Dog Rescued by a Thermal Drone Pilot

Angela Ruberto Rodden of Newtown Square was able to get help from a drone pilot to help her find her lost dog.

A Newtown Square woman was reunited with her lost dog after it went missing for four days, thanks to a thermal drone and a pilot who wouldn’t quit, writes Madeleine Wright for CBS News Philadelphia.

Angela Ruberto Rodden from Newtown Square said her rescue dog, Samson, was most likely startled by something that caused him to flee from their yard. It was the first time that had happened, Rodden said.

She posted about her lost dog on Facebook, but no one had seen Samson.

“I was devastated,” Ruberto Rodden said. “The crying wouldn’t stop.”

A Facebook user suggested she contact Joshua Barry, the owner of Precision Drone Services, who specializes in finding missing pets.

Barry used infrared technology for an aerial drone search and spotted Samson within an hour, hiding behind a gazebo a mile away.

Ruberto Rodden coaxed the frightened dog out with fried chicken and cookies, and Samson is now back home safe and healthy.

Ruberto Rodden never thought drone technology could be used to find a missing pet.

“Getting him back, oh my God, it was amazing,” Ruberto Rodden said. “I thought for sure we had lost him.”
