The Brandywine Valley SPCA has saved nearly one hundred vulnerable animals in a recent rescue operation, writes Mike Rellahan for The Daily Local News.
The SPCA rescued ninety-eight animals from deplorable conditions in a Delaware townhome serving as an at-home “animal shelter.” Cats, dogs, and other small animals were held in cramped and dirty conditions in the makeshift “rescue.”
The Brandywine Valley SPCA worked with Delaware Animal Services to save the animals.
The person responsible now faces charges for the operation. Charges include sixty-four counts of animal cruelty and dog housing violations, among others.
The SPCA team announced the rescue this past Wednesday and provided an update on the animals.
The nearly one hundred survivors are safe with the SPCA. Professionals evaluated each animal, and currently continue treating them for wounds, infections, and skin conditions.
With such a large influx in furry friends, team members from the Brandywine Valley SPCA need support. The organization encourages community members to consider adopting or fostering existing animals to make room for the survivors, or making a monetary donation.
About this call to action, SPCA CEO Adam Lamb said, “This is an emergency situation, and we are doing everything we can, but it takes support from our community to make responses like this possible.”
