Academy Park Football Coach Refuses to Let Multiple Sclerosis Stop Him From Doing What He Loves

Academy Park High School's football coach Jason Vosheski has been battling MS for the past five years, but remains dedicated to coaching.

Jason Vosheski has been coaching the Academy Park High School’s football team for 21 years, and despite battling multiple sclerosis for the past five, he remains just as committed to his team, writes Dave Caldwell for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

While he needs a mobility scooter and walker to help him coach at the games and teach in the classrooms, he isn’t ready to retire from doing what he loves most.

During games, he parks his scooter as far away from his assistant coaches and reserve players as possible to avoid being run over or getting hurt.

However, he wears a headset and makes sure he gets an unobstructed view of the football field.

Despite the challenges, Vosheski is able to do many of the same things other head coaches can do.

That isn’t lost on his players.

“It is pretty hard for him. But he pulls it off. He does it,” said senior wide receiver Dan Gbeaday.

They also appreciate his passion.

“He’s hard on us, just like every coach would be,” said junior strong safety and running back Myles Boone.

In 15 of the last 17 seasons, Vosheski has led his team to a winning record.
