“Task” is the story of a man battling a faith crisis, crime, and that crazy Delco accent, writes Joey Nolfi for Entertainment Weekly.
“It’s got a great pulse. It’s moving, it’s exciting,” said the seven-part series’ lead, Mark Ruffalo. “Yes, you’re going to get your heart torn out.”
The Marvel star joins Mare of Easttown writer Brad Ingelsby for the new HBO series launching Sept. 7.
In “Task,” Ruffalo plays an ex-priest leading an FBI task force investigating a crime ring.
The crime thriller wants to get in your face, under your skin, and into the deepest corners of your heart.
The show once again has a Delco influence. Ingelsby grew up in Berwyn, but attended Archbishop John Carroll High School in Radnor, and graduated from Villanova University.
The story slowly intertwines Ruffalo’s character, Tom, with Robbie, a garbage collector who’s also a gun-carrying burglar.
Both are struggling with loss and driven by their faith.
“The wonderful world of a detective on an investigation, slowly unraveling in this collision course of these two characters that we know have to meet one day and wonder what will happen when they finally do, ”Ruffalo said. “
