Starbucks, Balducci’s Market Leave Philadelphia Airport; 2 New Tenants Planned for 2026

Philadelphia International Airport has been expanding its restaurant and food options with a Philly-centric focus.

Balducci’s Market and Starbucks at Philadelphia International Airport are closing next month, with new tenants expected to open in those locations by 2026, writes Emma Dooling for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The closings mean 26 employees are being laid off, but efforts are underway to offer them opportunities at other airport food and beverage outlets.

Both businesses are in Terminal C. Balducci’s last day will be Oct. 13. Starbucks will close after Oct. 27.

PHL spokesperson Heather Redfern confirmed that new tenants are expected to open at the Balducci’s and Starbucks spaces by the end of 2026, but declined to name them.

There are two liquor licenses for PHL pending in the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board system with the names “Pretzels & Pints” and “Dos Tacos”.

Dining has been updated at the airport in recent years with a “Founded in Philly” initiative that emphasizes Philadelphia-born restaurant concepts.

This year, Federal Donuts and Oyster House opened in the connector between Terminals B and C.

Last week, the Middle Child sandwich shop and restaurant opened in Terminal D.

The airport has also welcomed the South Philadelphia brunch restaurant Sabrina’s Café, Elixr Coffee Roasters and La Colombe.
