Philadelphia Airport Has Detractors, But 1 Fan Thinks It’s the Best

The Philadelphia International Airport takes a lot of heat from critics, but one frequent traveler is coming to its defense.

Columnist Kiki Aranita talks about the positives in an article for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

PHL has “good food, fancy lounges, and plenty of places for dogs to pee,” Aranita writes.

She’s not only spent a lot of time at PHL as a traveler, she’s also worked there as a bartender while in grad school.

Here’s what’s good about PHL:

  • Philadelphia is small enough that you can walk one end to the other without “getting on a stupid toy train with suspicious smelling upholstery.”
  • PHL has the Centurion Club, the newer Chase Sapphire Lounge with free facials and foosball, and American Airline’s Flagship Lounge with dishes by Randy Rucker.
  • Airport dining with the just-opened Oyster House and Federal Donuts, and a Middle Child restaurant on the way.
  • “PHL is a veritable haven for taking your puppy to do their business,” she writes, with outdoor and indoor pee parks.
  • A robust art program in which the airport has reached out to artists and collectors for its exhibits.
  • Good coffee options beyond La Colombe include the local roastery Elixr.
