Wax N Scent Studio in New Hope is a cozy candle-making studio located on Main Street that gives locals the chance to craft their own creations, reports Eva Andersen for CBS News Philadelphia.
The business was first opened in 2020 by Moe Simmons and her husband Ningi. Moe noted that she wanted to give people a place where they could unwind and take a break from their phones.
“I wanted an activity where people could come with their friends, come with their families, and enjoy each other,” she said.
Visitors can try their hand at making a variety of candles with fun designs using different techniques. Popular options include DIY cut-and-create candles and melt-and-pour candles.
Customers can choose from a variety of scents, many of which Moe herself makes. “Girl Boss” is one of Moe’s scents that guests love.
This shop also holds historical significance. It’s the first Black-owned business to open on Main Street, according to the Chamber of Commerce.
“It allows the community and the tourists to see that you can do and become anything you want,” said Moe.
Locals can check out the studio Fridays through Sundays and make one of these candles for themselves.
