Construction has begun on a new Aldi store in the Phoenixville area, with excavation and building crews breaking ground in East Pikeland and making significant progress in recent weeks, writes Justin Heinze for the Patch

The new location for the popular discount grocer will be at 297 Schuylkill Road, directly across from O’Grady’s.

“The Aldi site in Phoenixville is bustling with activity,” said Schorn Construction, a contractor on the project. “We are about to go vertical with the building while we complete the remainder of the site work. The largest retaining wall is beginning to take shape at the same time that we wrap up our building foundations.”

The company added that “the clear weather that we have been having has really allowed us to make a great push forward on this job!”

Construction began in early March and has been progressing steadily since then.

No official opening date has been announced yet.

The new store will be the third major grocer in the Phoenixville area, joining the existing Giant and Redner’s locations.
