Two Delco High School Football Teams Earn Spots Among Top Ten in Southeastern Pennsylvania

Two Delaware County high school football teams earn spots among the top ten in Southeastern Pennsylvania: Chester and Bonner-Prendergast.

Two Delaware County high school football teams have earned spots among the top ten in Southeastern Pennsylvania, writes Joseph Santoliquito for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Chester, with a 9-2 record last season, placed tenth in the area. For the coming season, the Clippers will be led by twins Daron and Jalen Harris, along with offensive tackle Shemaj Henry, a 6-foot-7, 330-pound mammoth.

Last year, the team won the Del-Val League but lost to West Chester Rustin in the second round of the playoffs. Two years ago, the Clippers made the Class 5A district championship but lost to Strath Haven.

Bonner-Prendergast, with a 12-2 record, came in sixth on the list. The team managed to take their first state championship in football last season, beating District 3 champion Lampeter-Strasburg for the Class 4A state title.

The team have lost two major players – Jalil Hall and Mick Johnson – who will be hard to replace. However, returning to the field for the Friars are eight offensive starters, among them quarterback Noel Campbell, wide receivers Ty Morris and Saalem Frink, and linemen Julius Johnson, Kevin Hunter, Caleb Tesema, and James Shallow.
