Looking for a flexible, affordable entry into the accounting field?
Wilmington University’s (WilmU) new A.S. in Accounting program prepares you for a stable and rewarding career.
“There is a significant demand for skilled accounting professionals across the industry, so there is a great opportunity for students to jump into a profession that will always be in need,” stated Dr. Allison Jengehino, WilmU’s Accounting Chair. “Graduates with an A.S. in Accounting can pursue roles as Accounting Assistants, Bookkeepers, Payroll Specialists, Accounts Receivable or Payable Clerks, and Tax Preparers.”
An Online Accounting Degree That Fits Your Life
Available 100 percent online, in person, or a combination of both — this program can serve as the first step toward professional certifications that will make you stand out, such as CPA, certified public accountant; CMA, certified management accountant; and CFE, certified fraud examiner. Experienced instructors with backgrounds in public accounting, corporate finance, and government will teach you the skills you need to succeed, from financial and managerial accounting to business technology and taxation.
“The new A.S. in Accounting was designed to provide a strong, accessible foundation in a high-demand field, helping students build marketable skills quickly while also creating a seamless pathway to advanced degrees,” said Dr. Robin Weinstein, Dean of the College of Business & Technology. “Whether a student is just starting their academic journey or looking to upskill for immediate job opportunities, this program offers the flexibility and value that WilmU is known for.”
An Accounting Education That Helps You Succeed
A valuable degree on its own, the A.S. in Accounting is also part of a series of stackable credentials.
“Students in the A.S. in Accounting program are eligible for WilmU’s Dual-Credit ADVANTAGE, which allows them to earn credit toward both their associate and bachelor’s degrees simultaneously,” Jengehino said. “This not only saves time and money but also accelerates their path to a four-year degree.”
You can apply all 60 credits of the A.S. in Accounting to a B.S. in Accounting, B.S. in Finance, or B.S. in Accounting and Finance. Most of the credits also count toward other undergraduate business programs. From there, you can incorporate graduate-level courses into your bachelor’s degree program to fast-track an M.S. in Accounting, MBA, or M.S. in Management. Complete your studies with a Doctor of Business Administration.
“At Wilmington University, we believe in education that works — for your life, your schedule, and your goals,” Jengehino said. “The A.S. in Accounting is more than just a degree: It’s a launchpad for a meaningful career in a field that values precision, integrity, and analytical thinking. We’re excited to welcome students into this new program and support them every step of the way.”
