Superman Star David Corenswet Flies to Montco for Hometown Screening

Bryn Mawr native David Corenswet caught Superman in the Philly suburbs, showing he hasn’t forgotten his Montgomery County roots.

David Corenswet may be the Man of Steel, but he’s still grounded in Montgomery County, writes Shamus Clancy for Philly Voice.

The Bryn Mawr native and Shipley School grad returned to his roots to catch a hometown screening of Superman, the summer blockbuster in which he stars as Clark Kent. On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week, Corenswet shared that he watched the film at a local IMAX theater, likely one in the Philly suburbs, keeping a low profile behind his 6’8” brother-in-law and some classic Groucho Marx disguise glasses.

While the exact theater remains a mystery, fans are guessing it may have been Montgomery County’s Regal UA King of Prussia, one of the closest IMAX locations to his stomping grounds.

Corenswet, 32, told Fallon the Philly crowd brought a unique energy: “They were great… laughing at your jokes and cheering you when you succeed.” The experience felt more personal than the glitzy LA premiere, he said, joking that the suburban audience felt like extended family.

With Hollywood calling, Corenswet still keeps Montgomery County in his heart, even if his cape now flies much farther than Bryn Mawr.
