In 1973, ChesPenn Health Services began as the Children’s Clinic of Chester and Vicinity, with just three employees working out of a double-wide trailer on Tilghman Street in Chester.
Their mission was simple but urgent: to provide quality healthcare for the children who needed it most. Fifty years later, that humble trailer has grown into a vital network of two Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) serving thousands of patients across Delaware County.
Today, ChesPenn stands as a trusted FQHC, offering comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral health, and social enabling services — regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. The dedicated team includes doctors, dentists, therapists, social workers, educators, and more, united in their mission to serve low-income and medically underserved communities.

As ChesPenn Health Services celebrates National Health Center Week (Aug. 3-9) — a nationwide observance recognizing 60 years of improving America’s health — it reflects on ChesPenn’s journey “from one small trailer to a regional health service network.”
