“Testa Rossa is a very energetic, fun take on Italian American food,” said the new restaurant’s culinary director, Merick Devine.
The Glen Mills restaurant, the latest addition to the Fearless Restaurant Group, replaces a former Ruby Diner and has been open now for about six months, writes Tim Walton for 6abc.
The newer Italian-American eatery can handle anything from a casual lunch with sandwiches to more elevated Italian dishes for an elegant dinner.
“We make the pasta, we make the sauce, we make meatballs. It really is a scratch kitchen,” Devine said. “It’s fresher and there’s just more love going into it.”
Devine even created his own pizza dough, a hybrid between Neapolitan style and more of an American New York style.
“It’s gonna have the crunch to it,” he said.
The bar at Testa Rossa is the heart of the restaurant with the cocktail menu inspired by the food, designed to accentuate the flavors.
The interior has a mid-century Italian modernist motif, with a bit of a 60s charm, in a contemporary design.
There’s also a recently opened outdoor dining area with a private setting, fountains and landscaping.
“You feel like you’re somewhere other than where you are,” Devine said.
