Delaware County is among the top 25 Pennsylvania counties with the longest life expectancy, but it ranked toward the higher end of the list, according to Stacker.
Delaware County tied with Huntington County, coming in at No. 20. It shows a life expectancy of 77.6 years, .3 years higher than the state average.
Bucks County did significantly better, ranking at No. 9 with Northampton County. It shows a life expectancy of 79.3 years, 2 years higher than the state average.
Montgomery County did even better, ranking at No. 4, with a life expectancy of 80.1 years, 2.8 years higher than the state average.
Finally, Chester County performed the best among Philadelphia-area counties, ranking No. 2 in the state, with a life expectancy of 81.1 years, 3.8 years higher than the state average.
Overall, life expectancy rates in the United States have risen nearly seven years in the past half-century.
In 1970, the average lifespan was 70,8 years. By 2022, that number had increased to 77.5 years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
