Widener University Graduates 897 in Five Commencement Celebrations

Widener University President Stacey Robertson shared a moment with some of the graduates lined up outside at the 2025 commencement.

Widener University graduates participated in multiple commencement ceremonies this week.

It celebrated the achievements of 897 2025 Widener University graduates in joyful ceremonies held this week on Memorial Field at the Chester campus.

Ceremonies for the university’s five Chester-based schools and colleges began Tuesday, May 13, and concluded Thursday, May 15.  

Graduates from the School of Business, School of Nursing, School of Engineering, College of Arts & Sciences, College of Health & Human Services, and Center for Graduate & Continuing Studies individually crossed the stage. They were congratulated by President Stacey Robertson as they received a symbolic representation of their degrees.

Additional ceremonies are being held to celebrate graduates of Widener’s Delaware Law School, based in Wilmington, Delaware, and Commonwealth Law School, based in Harrisburg.

Delaware Law’s commencement took place Friday, May 16, on Memorial Field in Chester, and Commonwealth Law’s commencement will be held Sunday, May 18, at The Forum in the Capitol Complex, Harrisburg.

Robertson spoke at each of the Chester ceremonies, sharing personal reflections on four fundamental principles she advised would serve them well in a world that is rapidly transforming through artificial intelligence and global reach.

She recommended they be curious, demonstrate persistence through hard work, practices mindfulness to be fully present and approach life with humility.

“Do these things, and I have every confidence that you will not merely navigate the changing world – you will help shape it for the better,” she said.

She also lauded their efforts to reach commencement.

“You deserve this time of celebration because you did the hard work, you felt the feelings, you survived the low points, and you are here. I am so proud of each and every one of you,” she said.

Graduates hailed from 12 countries, including South Africa, Nigeria, Peru, Oman, and Lebanon, and 24 states, including Hawaii, California, Oregon, Utah, and South Dakota.

The university gave out associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The youngest graduate was 20, and the oldest was 68.
