Cocktail brand Surfside, from Kensington’s Stateside Distillery, is temporarily relocating its headquarters to a larger space in Trevose as it continues building nationwide momentum, writes Emily Goulet for Philadelphia Magazine.
Stateside’s owners, two pairs of brothers — Clement and Zach Pappas, and Matt and Bryan Quigley — originally signed a long-term industrial lease on a property that broke ground two years ago. Their headquarters were planned to be 40,000 square feet, to accommodate both Stateside vodka and their then-newly launched Surfside brand.
What they did not foresee was just how massive a success Surfside would become.
In its first year, the brand produced 200,000 cases. The next year, that number jumped to 1.3 million cases.
By 2024, two years after launch, the number skyrocketed to 4.9 million. Distribution also expanded rapidly, growing from seven states to all 50 states, along with St. Thomas, the Bahamas, and Grand Cayman.
Last year, Surfside became the fastest-growing alcohol brand in the United States, posting a remarkable 378 percent annual growth.
All this showed the new facility would fall short. The owners plan to use the leased property for warehousing and distribution, while keeping some existing sites while exploring a long-term solution.
