The Devon Horse Show, the oldest and largest outdoor multi-breed horse show in the country, has returned this week and offers a full schedule of must-see events, writes Laura Swartz for Philadelphia magazine.
The show began on May 21 and runs through June 1. It brings together the best equestrians from several disciplines, including jumpers, equitation, hunters, eventing, Saddlebred, hackney, coaching, and more.
The Sapphire Grand Prix will be on May 29, awarding the coveted Devon Blue Ribbon and a $250,000 prize to the winner.
Other highlights include special exhibitions such as the Radnor Hunt Fox Hounds on May 24 and the Shetland Pony Steeplechase on May 25 and 26.
Dog lovers can look forward to the Dog Show on May 22, including a costume contest and prizes for the curliest tail, waggiest dog, and more. A dog selfie station will also be available.
On May 25, carriage drivers will take to the streets of Devon for the annual Pleasure Drive.
Ladies Day on May 28 will feature a festive luncheon and the much-anticipated hat contest, themed “Hooray for Devonwood.”
