The Devon Horse Show & Country Fair is set to return for another year of exciting horse racing and community fun, writes Laurel Anderson for County Lines Magazine.
Now in its 129th year, this year’s show and fair will run for twelve days from May 21 to Jun. 1.
A longtime community favorite, the Devon Horse Show includes arena horse races, jumping events, parades, and coaching events, in addition to a large country fair with rides and shopping.
This year’s arena events include almost $1 million in prize money across various races, including the Sapphire Grand Prix of Devon with a prize of $226,000 on May 29, and the Evening Arena Competition with a prize of $50,000 on May 25.
Family-friendly horseracing events include the pony and munchkin horse parade scheduled for May 24.
Outside of the arena, the show’s country fair is run by over 2,000 volunteers and features food stands, live entertainment, boutique shopping, carnival games, and rides, including an antique carousel and Ferris wheel.
Throughout the twelve days, the fairgrounds also feature themed days and events, including Family Days on May 22 and Jun. 1, which will include the annual Dog Contest and Itty Bitty Tea Party.
With a wide variety of events perfect for racing fans and newcomers alike, the Devon Horse Show offers something for everyone.
