Cookies, cakes, and pickles don’t seem like a great combination, but two Springfield friends and entrepreneurs are making all three in a shared church kitchen.
Julie Tamaccio of Sweet Dreams by Julie, and Christina “Chrissy” Dezzi of Dezzis Dills have been able to expand their businesses by sharing one kitchen space, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.
Tamaccio was making cakes and cookies out of her home, but needed more space as demand grew.
Dezzi had the same problem, making pickles out of her home as the orders kept growing.
They rented the church kitchen in February 2024 and business has taken off.
Tamaccio bakes at least five hours daily, often more, at the shared kitchen, which she described as her “happy place.”
Chrissy Dezzi , who grew up in Broomall, got into the pickle business after someone with a crate of cucumbers asked for help turning them into pickles.
Her first batch of “Dezzis Dills” went to the Holy Cross Parish Craft Fair in Springfield.
“I sold out within hours,” Dezzi said.
She has since been selling the gourmet pickles at farmers markets, festivals, parties and special events. Now she’s in local stores.
