DCCC Holds Moon Shot for Social & Economic Mobility Week during Women’s History Month

Delaware County Community College (DCCC) held a Moon Shot for Social & Economic Mobility Week during Women’s History Month.

The week kicked off on Monday, Mar. 17 for the College’s Full Moon Shot Update meeting. Topics discussed were the College’s progress in advising, transfer pathways, data sharing, and meta majors. 

On Tuesday, Mar. 18, Keynote Speaker, Dr. Antoinette Newsome, Associate Director/Consultant for EAB’s Moon Shot for Social & Economic Mobility, explored the intersection of women’s leadership and equity, highlighting the persistence of gender gaps in education and leadership.

On Wednesday, Mar. 19, DCCC held a women’s leadership panel with Dr. Umadevi Garimella, Dean of STEM; Dr. Marta Yera Cronin, President; Elif Munevver Isman, DCCC student; Maria Lopez, Lead Administrative Assistant for Career & Counseling; and Dr. Adriana Bohm, Professor of Sociology and Women’s Empowerment Initiative lead.

The panelists reflected on their lives and leadership journeys, providing helpful insights to others. To close out the week, on Thursday, Mar. 20, DCCC had a Parenting Student Conversation and Resource Fair, featuring several students and College support services staff.
