The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has released this year’s trout stocking schedule, adding several new fish drop sites, including one in Bucks County, writes JD Mullane for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The annual fish release begins next week, with 3.2 million trout being stocked into 691 streams and 130 lakes across the state.
The newly added drop sites include Lake Caroline in Fairless Hills in Falls Township, at the county’s Oxford Valley Park. The spot is listed by the PFBC as “Caroline Lake,” which has been a favorite fishing spot for locals for decades.
“The county park provides excellent angler accessibility,” stated the commission’s website. “Trout will be stocked during the preseason and in-season stocking periods.”
Trout stocking in Bucks County started on February 22 at the east branch of Perkiomen Creek in Sellersville. The spring stocking will end on May 5 at Levittown Lake in Tullytown.
Trout fishing opening day is April 5 at 8 a.m.
Volunteers who want to help drop the fish into the water are welcome at all drop sites – no registration or experience is required.
