Erica Braunlinger, M.Ed., a fourth-grade teacher at St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Upper Providence, has been named to the International Literacy Association’s 30 Under 30 list for 2025, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.
Braunlinger, from Media, was recognized for her significant contributions to the world of literacy education while advocating for inclusive and accessible learning in schools.
Braunlinger primarily focuses on promoting phonemic awareness deficits, particularly morphology, orthography and phonology.
While studying at Saint Joseph’s University, she acted as the president of the International Literary Association’s honors society and hosted an event allowing students to read to therapy dogs.
Braunlinger has since become involved in several educational programs and organizations, including the Phillie Phanatic About Reading Program, the ELA Curriculum Team for the Philadelphia Archdiocese, and the National Council of Teachers in English.
“When I see the light bulb go off in students’ minds when they understand a concept, it makes me feel proud,” she said.
Braunlinger will be featured along with fellow inspirational teachers in the association’s members magazine in the 2025 January, February and March issue which details more about each individual’s efforts.
