An annual winter tradition, Flight on Ice, returned to Delaware County Nov. 29 with the outdoor ice skating rink opening at Energy Transfer Veterans Memorial Park in Edgmont.
The rink at 4901 West Chester Pike will continue through President’s Day weekend in February, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.
A portion of proceeds collected to use the family-friendly rink and related activities during the 2024-25 season will benefit Delaware County veterans and the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association.
Flight On Ice is once again teaming up with Tired Hands Brewery and Winter Beer Park. It’s supported by Energy Transfer, Visit Delco and other sponsors.
The rink debuted in 2021 and has been a favorite winter destination.
“Over the past three winters, we have seen the rink bring consumers into the county and boost our tourism economy.,” said Steve Byrne, executive director of Visit Delco.
This year, Flight On Ice will offer a kids zone with moon bounces, heated tents, a large LED TV, fire pits, open-air gazebos, and more.
Nachos, pretzels, popcorn, candy, coffee, hot chocolate and a food menu offering beer and wine for adults will be available.
