Flight on Ice has returned to the Energy Transfer Veterans Memorial Rink in Newtown Square for another holiday season, writes Timothy Alexander for MyChesCo.
The rink at 4901 West Chester Pike opened Nov. 28 and will stay open through Feb. 1.
Energy Transfer continues its support of the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association with a donation this year of $75,000, bringing its total support to the organization to $225,000 since the rink opened four years ago.
The funds help maintain the memorial and support programs for local veterans.
This year will bring a fully upgraded winter village with heated tents, fire pits, open-air gazebos, food, and a kids’ zone with moon bounces.
The rink runs Thursday through Sunday public sessions during most of December and January, with special holiday hours from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day.
Steve Byrne, Executive Director of Visit Delco, talked about the rink’s contribution to Delaware County’s economy.
“Flight On Ice not only delivers holiday magic but also drives meaningful economic activity to local restaurants, shops, and attractions,” Byrne said. “It highlights what makes Delaware County such a special destination — authentic community, local pride, and unforgettable memories.”
