Jason Kelce is joking that he has dethroned Mariah Carey as the new “Queen of Christmas,” writes Hannah Johnson for y!entertainment.
The Haverford resident revealed his new title during a Nov. 13 New Heights podcast with brother Travis Kelce.
The duet, “Maybe This Christmas” debuted at No 1 on the iTunes Top Christmas Songs 2024 chart, outperforming Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
The Kelce-Nicks duet, released Nov. 8, is a Ron Sexsmith cover that appears on the “A Philly Special Christmas Party,” the third Philadelphia Eagles-oriented charity Christmas album set for release Nov. 22.
“[Carey’s] song is as good as it gets when it comes to Christmas music,” Travis said after revealing the duet’s ranking.. “Jason, how does it feel to officially be the Queen of Christmas?”
“You know, I’ve fought my whole life to be the Queen of Christmas,” Jason jokingly replied. “The fact that we’re finally there is just really special.”
Kelce, still in awe that he worked with Stevie Nicks, added, “This is really really cool. There is no percent chance any song that I’m in should be streaming No. 1 on any service in any genre.”
