Wallingford Restaurant Brings French Elegance to Delaware County
Fond, a former Philadelphia-favorite contemporary French BYOB, will reopen in Wallingford this week, writes Vince Carey for the Daily Times.
Fond had been an elegant offering for 12 years in Center City Philadelphia until the pandemic forced it to close in 2021.
Now chefs Lee Styer and Jesse Prawlucki-Styer will reopen Fond on Oct. 16 at 21 N. Providence Road in Wallingford.
The space is currently occupied by La Cannelle Café.
“We’ve been looking for something around here the last couple years,” said Lee Styer, who is considered one of the top chefs in the nation.
“We moved to Media about three years ago. We finally found something and want to kind of bring back the original Fond.”
When Fond started they did everything from scratch, with Jesse doing the pastry and baking.
“That was kind of like our first baby before we had kids,” Styer said. They hope to get back to that original simpler place with “just good, classic food.”
The restaurant will seat 40 and will offer an evolving seasonal lunch and dinner menu, with much of the food sourced from Styers’ own small farm adjacent to their Media home.
