It’s National Soup Month and the polar vortex is coming, just in time to chill down the end of January.

But never fear! Here are just a few of the many wonderful Delco restaurants that offer delicious, warm, and comforting homemade soups for you to pick up and warm up at home, plus you’ll be supporting your community restaurants.

Jack’s Taverna recent recipient of the Barstool Fund—is a great place for food, fun, atmosphere, and of course, great food. Their soups are so great that one time a customer even bought a round of soup for the bar, just so he could share with the room how great Jack’s soups are!

They offer daily soups: a soup of the day, like their Stuffed Peppers Soup, and a daily seafood soup, like a Clams Casino version of soup.

Visit the tavern at 18 State Road in Media, or call 610-566-5914.

Manoa Tavern (located at 8 N. Manoa Road in Havertown, 484-455-7448) has an excellent menu with plenty of comforting soups. Take out includes sandwiches, apps, salads, and soups like the soup of the week, plus their Onion Bisque.

This bisque is a flavorful blend of caramelized onions in a sherry beef broth, served with a garlic crostini and topped with a flavorful three-cheese blend.

The Ridley House (located at 2107 MacDade Boulevard in Holmes, 610-522-5400) knows French Onion Soup never goes out of style. Their version is topped with a crispy, melty layer of Gruyere Cheese. They also serve a Grilled Cheese & Tomato Bisque combo at Brunch.

DiFabio’s (located at 1243 N. Providence Road in Media, 484-444-0850) offers boxed lunches with soup and salad, or grab their delicious frozen soups to go.

Check out their market—pop in and grab what you need, like Chili or Beef Barley soup. And don’t stop there, the market has got everything you need for a great meal.

Ro-Lynn Deli (located at 3407 Edgmont Avenue in Brookhaven, 610-872-9575) offers traditional comfort food made from scratch.

In addition to their salads and sandwiches, try their hearty soups like Chicken Vegetable, Maryland Crab, Chicken Noodle, Pasta Fagioli, Cheesy Chicken Noodle, Beef Pastina, and so many more. All their soups are available frozen, too.

The Gateway Diner (located at 2215 MacDade Boulevard in Holmes, 610-532-2825) has a huge menu of just about anything you could want, but today, we’re going for soups to warm us up.

They like to whip up special soups like Lentil Soup or their French Onion, perfect for when you need a comforting meal. You can get a quart of soup du jour to go anytime, served with crackers.
