The popular New Hope alternative-rock duo Ween decided to cancel their tour for the ”foreseeable future,” including next month’s sold-out show at the Mann, writes Jason Nark for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The pair announced their decision on Instagram earlier this week, citing the mental health issues of guitarist and founding member Michael “Dean Ween” Melchiondo Jr.

“Despite three great shows this summer, it’s become clear that touring and performing is too taxing on Deaner’s mental health to continue,” wrote the band. “As always, we thank you for the love, dedication, and ongoing support.”

The band, which was formed in 1984, announced at the start of August it was canceling the shows in Portland, Eugene, and Seattle, but did not provide an explanation as to why. Ween played a show in Montana a few days before the announcement.

The Mann Center show was envisioned as a celebration of Ween’s 1994 album Chocolate and Cheese.

Ween canceled their spring tour earlier this year with a similar Instagram announcement. Melchiondo addressed the band’s fans directly in that post, where he noted that he needed to preserve his “mental and spiritual well being.”
