3 Delaware County Communities Make List of 30 Most Expensive Places to Buy a Home

A family who was used to city life found a permanent place in suburbia with a new Folsom home.

While purchasing a home is one of the most important investments there is, home prices have reached record heights making affordability a major stumbling block, reports Stacker.

High mortgage rates are also making monthly payments more expensive.

What you’ll pay for a home, though, still varies depending on where you live and some places command a higher price.

Stacker has compiled a list of the 30 communities with the most expensive homes in Pennsylvania. Here’s how Delaware County stacks up, according to data from Zillow.

Media Borough came in 22nd in the listing of 30 communities.

A typical home value in Media is $592,258. In the last year, prices have increased 4.9 percent. They’ve jumped 44.9 percent in the past five years. 

Glen Mills had the 13th most expensive homes in the state. A typical home value in Glen Mills is $664,407.  Prices have jumped 6.7 percent in the past year.. They’ve jumped 47 percent over five years.

Garnet Valley had the12th most expensive homes.  A typical home value there was $666,218. Prices have increased 6.3 percent in the past year. They have gone up 48 percent over five years.
