Plans to Build New Wawa at Parkway Center in West Goshen Clear Major Hurdle
Plans to build a new Wawa Market at Parkway Shopping Center in West Goshen have just passed a significant hurdle, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News.
Board of Supervisors Chair Ashley Gagne said in a prepared statement that the township will “entertain settlement negotiations” with the owner of the property, on Wawa’s behalf, to build the market.
The board had previously voted to deny Wawa’s conditional-use application for the store, so the matter ended up in court.
“Given the appeal filed by the owner of the Parkway Shopping Center, which is pending before the Court of Common Pleas, and the fact that the owner filed a second conditional use application, which would necessitate the board conducting a second round of hearings, the board felt it was prudent to entertain settlement negotiations with the property owner,” said Gagne.
If the court found in Wawa’s favor, the township might have lost a say in how the property on South High Street is developed.
If a settlement is reached in concept, the board “must vote on the settlement agreement at a future public meeting,” said Gagne.
