Drexel Hill Man Receives 100 Days in Prison for Role in Jan. 6 Riot

Brian Healion was sentenced to 100 days in prison for his involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021 riots at the Capital Building in Washington, D.C.

Drexel Hill resident Brian Healion, a former member of the Proud Boys Philadelphia Chapter, was sentenced to 100 days of prison July 2 for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 riots at the Capitol building, writes Jeremy Roebuck for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

He was also ordered to pay $2,000 restitution and submit to three years of court supervision upon his release.

The 34-year-old apologized for his actions during the riot, which disrupted the Congressional certification of Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory.

“I made a big mistake,” he told U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly during Tuesday’s sentencing hearing in Washington D.C. “I let a lot of people down … and I’m very sorry for that.”

Healion did not assault police in the riot or destroy property, but he did participate in the Proud Boys’ early planning for violence that day, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle M. McWaters.

Healion’s lawyer, Paul F. Enzinna, noted Tuesday that his client’s only involvement in the discussion was asking what sort of equipment he should bring.

But prosecutors said the Proud Boys group traded emergency contacts and blood types before leaving from Philadelphia Jan. 5, suggesting they were prepared to engage in violence.
