Despite being in competition with cheesesteaks and hoagies, sushi has managed to swim its way into the Delaware County consciousness and there are two local spots where you can find it, writes Olivia Stefano for Main Line Today.

Azie Media, at 217 W. State Street in Media creates a unique sushi experience. It has an innovative approach to Japanese cuisine, blending traditional techniques with bold flavors from all over Asia.

The classics like California roll are there, but so are specialty rolls, like the spicy tuna-based Azie roll or Wanderlust, combining salmon, avocado, a soy glaze and kimchi Thousand Island dressing. 

Azie also offers a selection of Japanese whiskey and sake. You can order sake by the glass, or try a sake flight for a half pour of each variety offered.

Teikoku Restaurant at 5492 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square fuses Japanese and Thai cuisines.  The menu features a mix of traditional favorites and innovate creations. A strong choice is the Chay roll, blending spicy tuna, scallions and avocado. 

The chef shows his style with the classic nigiri and sashmi options.

The menu is also full of options for gluten-free dining.
