Villanova University’s Chandon Pierre appeared in all 13 Wildcat football games this past season and he completed his second year of law school, where he’s studying sports law, writes Colin Beazley for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The graduate law student finished third among Wildcat defensive lineman with 22 total tackles, including two sacks.
It all starts this fall again for Pierre with a 5 AM alarm, followed by a team breakfast, four meetings, film, then practice.
Then it’s off to class. He goes home about 8 PM, where he finishes mountains of course reading and case files for the next day.
He’s one of only two law students at the university who are also playing football.
Pierre insists he’s made it work with an “enormous amount of help from everybody around me.”
“It’s definitely not something I could have done on my own, by any means.”
Pierre’s found ways to balance law school and football so he hasn’t had to sacrifice one to pursue the other.
“We are super impressed with his commitment, work ethic, time management skills, and everything else that would be required to be able to do what he’s doing,” said Villanova coach Mark Ferrante.
