Hallahan High School’s Former Center City Campus Sells For $15M, Belmont Charter Plans Move
The former campus of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School in Center City has been sold to an entity tied to the chairman of Belmont Charter Network for $15 million, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
This comes right when Belmont Charter High School plans to move into the property at 19th and Wood streets.
Two nearby properties were sold to Belmont Futures, the nonprofit that will be the landlord for Belmont Charter High School.
Lubert-Adler, the seller, had acquired the Hallahan campus from the Philadelphia Archdiocese in 2022 for $13.15 million. It was previously vacant after the 110-year-old Catholic girls school closed in June 2021.
Belmont Charter High School will move into the Hallahan campus from its current location on the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue in West Philadelphia. It currently shares the property with Inquiry Charter School, an elementary school in the Belmont Charter Network.
The move is still pending, however, as it still requires approval from the School District or Philadelphia Board of Education.
