Philadelphia is among the top cities in the U.S. when it comes to pizza.

For the third consecutive year, Philadelphia has been ranked as one of the top five cities in the country for its pizza, writes Brianna Fallon for NBC 10 Philadelphia

Philadelphia came in at No. 4 on the list, trailing Denver, Colorado; Buffalo, New York; and Boston, Massachusetts.

Clever Real Estate conducts a yearly survey that analyzes several factors to determine the top 50 pizza cities in the U.S.

The pizza reputation is based on a survey of 1,000 Americans. The factors Clever Real Estate used to rank the cities include the rate of pizza restaurants per 100,000 residents; pizza passion based on local internet search activity; average Yelp rating for pizza restaurants; average price of large pizzas; and more.

For Philadelphia, the number of pizza shops, the price per pie, and the amount of “pizza” Google searches helped it earn its No. 4 ranking.

According to the real estate company, Philadelphia has 11.2 pizza restaurants per 100,000 residents, which is 33 percent more than the city’s 8.4 per 100,000 average.

Philly ultimately scored 86 out of 100 on the company’s “pizza passion metric,” with 72 as the average score in the nation.
