As the sun shines longer and the temperatures warm up, it is the perfect time to spend more time in nature, writes Jeff Tomik for PhillyVoice.

One fun way to celebrate the arrival of spring is to visit some of the local gardens and arboretums, including Ott’s Exotic Plants in Schwenksville.

At Ott’s Exotic Plants not only can you shop for new vegetation for your garden, you can also explore all the natural wonders on site including an indoor two-story waterfall and koi pond.

There is no fee to visit Ott’s located at 861 Gravel Pike. Mark your calendars to also come back in the fall to witness Ott’s spectacular Mum Mountain behind the greenhouse.

Other fun places to visit this spring include Morris Arboretum & Gardens in Philadelphia and Longwood Gardens in Chester County.

At the Morris Arboretum, there are 92 acres to explore, including a 100-year-old rose garden. Tickets cost $12-$20 for adults, depending on the season.

Longwood Garden first opened to the public in 1921 and today, more than 1.5 million people visit the gardens, woodlands and meadows every year. Tickets cost $25 for adults.
