Matthew's Tavern will be featured in a scene from the upcoming Apple TV series "Sinking Springs."

The Norwood bar, Matthew’s Tavern, is seeing more curious customers after a film crew shot a scene there for the new Apple TV drama series “Sinking Springs.”

Crews were at Matthew’s Tavern on Winona Avenue two weeks ago.  writes Madeleine Wright for CBS Philadelphia.

“It was extraordinary,” said Matthew Ernst, owner of Matthew’s Tavern. ” “I mean, it was definitely an interesting thing to happen to Matthew’s Tavern, and we’re really grateful for it.”

Apple Studios spent three days at the bar from Jan. 30 to Feb. 1, filming a scene for the upcoming crime drama.

Crew members took everything off the wall, including trophies and a Delco sign, adding their own props.

“The next day, it seemed like over 150 people showed up, and that’s when they shot their scene,” Ernst said.

Ernst isn’t sure why producers picked his bar or how they found him. A scout left a business card with the bartender in December, saying Apple Studios wanted to film there.

The owner theorizes the production team liked the old knotty pine walls and the fact that the bar has been there a long time.
