Bonner-Prendergast senior Touari “Deuce “ Ketner, at 6-foot-7 and in his final season, is leading the Friars in scoring (18.1 points) and rebounding (8.7 rebounds).

Ketner is someone to be reckoned with in the Catholic League, writes Owen McCue for City of Basketball Love, appearing in The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Not only did his older brother Tairi guide him to be an elite forward with pickup games in their backyard, but his late father, Lari Ketner, was an NBA star, having played with the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Indiana Pacers.

Their father died in 2014. Deuce was 8. Tairi was 13.

Tairi said he felt he had to be there for Deuce to keep him connected to their father.

“When my dad passed, I kind of didn’t understand,” Deuce said. “He would remind me of my dad. I didn’t really get to see my dad play. … He would find clips and send them to me, ‘This is how dad used to play.’”

Bonner coach Billy Cassidy said Deuce has been tremendous this year.

“He’s taken huge strides for us, and we’re going to continue to need him to do even more.”
