Bonner's Irish Pub on S 23rd St. has been around for 30 years inside a building that has stood for 124 years.

The building that has housed Bonner’s Irish Pub in Center City for 30 years is now on the market, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal

Owner Daniel Bonner has placed the 124-year-old building’s asking price at $6 million.

Bonner hopes that listing the property for sale will lead to him finding a partner to redevelop the building and maximize the building’s potential in the neighborhood.

“It’s probably the best time to look in to developing the site,” said Bonner.

The lot is zoned for a total of five stories, but a developer could get approval to build taller. This is dependent on the intended use of the building, said Brian Figgs of Coldwell Banker Realty’s The Avenue Team, who has the listing.

Bonner opened the pub in the ground-floor space of the building in 1994 before later purchasing the property for $222,432 in 1995, according to property records.

Bonner’s Irish Pub has since become a popular neighborhood food and drink establishment among neighborhood residents, as well as students and alumni of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania

While Bonner hopes to continue operating the pub, he would consider selling if a developer did not want to maintain it.
