Springfield Lacrosse Team Is ‘Shovel-Ready’ When Snow Needs Arise

By

The Springfield High School lacrosse team is kind of like a snow superhero. Whenever it snows, and you can’t leave your house, they are there to shovel you out.

The team has created an initiative to help shovel for those who can’t shovel themselves, writes Sharifa Jackson for 6abc.

After Friday’s snowstorm, there were several inches of snow that needed to be cleared. This was the lacrosse’s teams way of giving back.

The team had ten trucks of students working on Saturday, covering more than 100 homes on their list.

“There’s probably about 40 lacrosse players, and we got girl’s lacrosse team, we probably have 60 to 70 guys and girls out here,” said Ryne Adolph, assistant coach to the Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team. “The players learn a lot of values that go beyond the lacrosse field and so many people making people happy. It’s just great.”

The players don’t mind and say they enjoy the work.

“It’s good, builds better relationships with your team, also helps the community,” said student Danny Wagner.

Springfield Commissioner Jim Kennedy said the program is open to the elderly, disabled people, and anyone who can’t shovel themselves.
