Springfield Lacrosse Player Makes Academic All-Area Team

Belle Mastropietro from Springfield ranks as one of Temple University’s most accomplished athletes in recent history, reports owlsports.com.

Now she’s been named one of the 12 student-athletes on the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area women’s lacrosse team.

Members of the team are nominated and voted on by the sports information offices of 30 area institutions of higher learning from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Mastropietro was a senior last season but has taken advantage of the NCAA blanket COVID-19 waiver so she can return for a fifth season with the Temple Owls.

To qualify, students must be at least in their second year at the institution with a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better.

Midfielder Mastropietro, has played and started in all 59 games of her career. She’s amassed 204 career points on 146 goals and 58 assists.

Her point total ranks eighth all-time in program history.

Mastropietro holds the single-season draw control record at 105 and the all-time draw control record of 286 at Temple.

She has won numerous awards and honors in her lacrosse career.

Mastopietro graduated with honors from Temple’s School of Public Health with a degree in Exercise Science and will continue her education in the Fall semester.
