Despite Crozer Health financial issues, patients in Delaware County will receive neurological services through a neurological care partnership with Jefferson Health.

Jefferson Health is now providing neurological services to Crozer Health patients in Delaware County through a neurological care partnership, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Jefferson Health specialists began providing neurosurgery, and neurocritical care includes neurosurgery and neurocritical care on Jan. 15 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

The neurological care partnership includes the “latest innovations” to treat patients with neurological disorders or traumatic injuries affecting the brain and spine.

“This new relationship allows Jefferson Health to bring critical care to Crozer Health’s patients that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to access,” said Dr. Baligh Yehia, president of Jefferson Health.

Anthony Esposito, CEO of Crozer Health, said  Jefferson will be able to provide Delaware County patients with advanced neuroscience care close to home.

Crozer Health is struggling financially under its owner, Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical Holdings. It lost about $70 million in fiscal 2023.

Prospect Medical is looking for a buyer for Crozer Health even as it fights a legal battle with The Foundation for Delaware County over the closing of Delaware County Memorial Hospital.

Esposito said one way to improve the health system’s finances was to enter into clinical service agreements like the neurology partnership with Jefferson.
