Billionaire Jeff Yass, co-founder of Susquehanna International Group in Bala Cynwyd, seen here buying a program at a Phillies game, donated $6 million to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s reelection campaign.

Jeff Yass, co-founder of Susquehanna International Group based in Bala Cynwyd and one of the richest men in the world according to Forbes, last week donated 6 million dollars to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s re-election campaign, writes Shelly Hagan for Bloomberg.

Both Yass and Abbott are supporters of school choice programs.

Abbott’s campaign office said that it is the largest single political donation in the state’s history.

“With this substantial financial backing, Governor Abbott will ensure that the conservative candidates who support his bold agenda to expand school choice, secure our southern border, and lower property taxes have what they need to keep Texas red,” Abbott campaign manager Kim Snyder said in a statement.

Yass is a Montgomery County billionaire who has given millions to national and state elections.

He donated $200,000 to the Opportunity Matters Action Fund in March, May, and June. He had also donated to the campaigns of Bob Kerrey in 1992, Ralph Nader in 2004, and Rudy Giuliani in 2008.
