There’s a Newtown Square billionaire and another that lives in the Lower Merion section of Haverford on this year’s list of billionaires put out by Forbes, writes Kenney Rose for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Victoria Mars, a Newtown Square resident, is considered the second wealthiest person in the Philadelphia region.

She and her sisters are heirs to the candy and food company, Mars Inc.

Victoria Mars has a net worth of $7.8 billion, ranking No. 316 on the Forbes’ billionaire list.

Jeff Yass of Susquehanna International Group, who lives in Haverford, ranks No. 184 on the list. He has an estimated net worth of $12 billion.

Yass made Susquehanna the largest trader of listed stock options in the U.S.

In 2020, the company traded 1.8 billion stock options contracts. That’s an 80 percent increase from the prior year.

It makes up nearly a quarter of all options trades in the country.

The quiet billionaire and competitive poker player has made investments in TikTok owner ByteDance and billions of dollars in other venture-backed companies, Forbes wrote.

The two were part of a group of 2,755 billionaires globally. That’s an increase of 660 from last year.
