Aqua Replaces More Than 24,000 Feet of Aging Water Mains in Delaware County

Aqua Pennsylvania is replacing approximately 24,400 feet of aging water mains across Delaware County. The company is upgrading aging water mains with ductile iron water mains, which are more durable and comprised of nearly 90 percent recycled materials.

This investment is part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program to replace decades-old water and wastewater infrastructure around the country. The new water mains will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and will improve water flow for customers throughout Delaware County.

In Rose Valley Borough and Nether Providence Township, crews are replacing 6,600 feet of aging water mains with new 6-inch and 8-inch ductile iron mains on the following streets:

  • West Possum Hollow Road between South Providence and West Rose Valley roads
  • Fox Lane between West Possum Hollow and the end of road
  • Brookside Road between West Possum Hollow Road and the end of road

Crews are also working to replace 3,400 feet of aging water mains with new 6-inch and 8-inch ductile iron water mains in Nether Providence Township and Media Borough. The work is taking place on the following streets:

  • Pritchard Lane between North Providence Road and Highland Avenue
  • Locust Lane between North Providence Road and the end of road
  • Sharpless Lane between North Providence Road and the end of road
  • Allen Lane between North Providence Road and Emerald Lane

In Ridley Township, crews are working to replace 5,300 feet of aging water mains with new 8-inch ductile iron water mains. The work is taking place on the following streets:

  • Clymer Lane between Rodney and Darby roads
  • Stockton Circle between Rodney and Rodney roads
  • Darby Road between Haller and Rodney roads
  • Braxton Road between Clymer Lane and Rodney Road

Recently, crews in Upper Darby Township began replacing 4,600 feet of aging 8-inch water mains with new ductile iron water mains on the following streets:

  • Lombardy Road between Garrett Road and Upland Way
  • Kirks Lane between Garrett and Eldon roads
  • Upland Way between Garrett and Marshall roads
  • Devon Lane between Upland Way and Lombardy Road

Crews are also at work in Yeadon Borough to replace 4,500 feet of aging 8-inch water mains on Yeadon Avenue between Baily Road and Allen Drive.
