Unique Drinks, Sandwiches Make Marple Public House a Local Favorite
The Marple Public House has been a favorite local watering hole in Delaware County that offers its own specialty drinks and sandwiches, reports Bob Kelly for Fox 29.
The Public House is in a 100-year-old building at West Chester Pike and Sproul Road and was one of the establishments granted a liquor license two years ago after Marple voters agreed they should no longer be a dry town.
“People in this community love it, and they love walking up to have a place to call their own. That’s why we call it the Marple Public House,” said owner Nick Reynolds.
The building has housed an apartment and a hairdresser. Reynolds knocked out some walls and discovered beautiful original stonework.
The bar/restaurant is known for its Marple Tea, a mixture of local bourbon, freshly brewed oolong tea, and passion fruit with fresh mint on top.
And you probably shouldn’t leave without checking out the roast beef and/or pork roast sandwich. ‘
“Roast pork is a family special recipe,” Reynolds said. “We’re not going to tell you everything that’s in it, but I spent many years with my grandma perfecting this roast pork sandwich.”
