Sure, the Eagles Are Great, But Their New Tide Commercial—Not So Much

Jason Kelce is no stranger to television and it looks like earlier reports that ESPN was looking at him to do some Monday Night Football broadcasting are true.

The Philadelphia Eagles are hitting their stride on the sports and cultural circuit.

They are one of only two NFL teams with a 5-0 record.

They put out a successful Christmas album and are planning a second one.

The documentary on Eagles Center Jason Kelce of Haverford is the most watched documentary on Prime Video in the United States.

Then there’s that personal thing going on between Kelce’s brother Travis and a certain pop music sensation.

So what’s up with this new Eagles Tide commercial? asks Victor Fiorillo for Philadelphia Magazine.

The ad features Jason Kelce and fellow Eagles Fletcher Cox and Jordan Mailata.

“This is disgusting,” wrote Fiorillo’s colleague. “I respected them so much for their musical talent, their drive, their good humor. And they throw it away for a goddamn mass-production LAUNDRY DETERGENT?!?!”

Fiorillo agrees.

The Tide commercial is part of a campaign launched in early September.

And the original ad from that campaign is even worse, Fiorillo writes.

This is not the first time the Eagles made questionable Tide commercials. They did it in 2018, too, with one fan on Twitter at the time calling for a national boycott of Tide until the ads were withdrawn.
