The Philadelphia Eagles second-year wideout DeVonta Smith is bulking up and he’s using Wawa to help him get there, writes Matt Mullin for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Smith spoke to reporters Thursday after the Eagle’s final training camp practice, admitting he eats a Wawa sandwich every day. His sandwich of choice? The honey turkey hoagie.
“You know what’s crazy? I got a Wawa addiction,” he said.
Smith had an impressive rookie season with the Eagles, catching 64 passes for 916 yards and five touchdowns.
These days, besides his daily Wawa meal, he’s getting to the weight room.
Smith weighed in at only 170 pounds at the 2021 combine so he’s had a lot of opportunities to bulk up..
This season he’s expected to take a big leap, paired up alongside new Eagles receiver A.J. Brown.
Smith’s praises for Wawa aren’t new. The Eagles receiver confessed his fondness for Wawa shakes during the lead-up to the Super Bowl in February.
There are limits, however. When asked if he liked the meatball hoagie at Wawa, DeVonta Smith was quick with a response.
“No, no, no, no, no, I do not like the meatball.”
